We are looking for a Tax Accountant to join our finance team at Stockley Park, our European Head Quarters. Reporting to the Director of Tax & Accounting, you will provide hands on support with UK and overseas tax compliance matters and ad-hoc support with UK accounting matters. 
You should have a strong indirect tax background and be willing to get involved in corporate tax and general accounting.  This is an ideal opportunity for the right person to broaden their skill set and have wide exposure to the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing the UK VAT outsourcing compliance process for the HQ entity, this includes working with the outsourcing agent and internal finance to clear ad-hoc queries and deliver accurate data for VAT return processing and submission,
  • Assisting with HQ’s VAT deregistration and tax audit process in European countries,
  • Providing the finance team with a monthly VAT account reconciliation for HQ entity,
  • Advising on VAT for cross border (goods and services) business flows,
  • Developing a working relationship with the UK customs duty outsourcing specialist,
  • Working with our IT centre to ensure SAP VAT coding and determination logic is kept up to date for business changes
  • Maintaining tax policies and procedures documents for HQ entity.
  • Keeping up to date with forthcoming international VAT change
  • Providing targeted VAT training to relevant business units
  • Leading on annual UK corporate tax compliance process for HQ, including the preparation of tax packs, deferred tax calculations and tax provisioning support
  • Preparing and managing the annual tax compliance filings and internal review processes for Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) disclosure, Tax Strategy (TS), Business Risk Review (BRR) assessment and Corporate Criminal Offence (CCP),
  • Providing ad-hoc support with pan European transfer pricing compliance, tax audits and business restructuring activities,
  • Managing business expectations effectively and build strong working relationships with internal and external customers including HMRC.

  • Strong working knowledge of indirect tax compliance regulations in the UK and EU
  • Experience with cross border goods and services supply chains including exposure to incoterms and customs duty compliance
  • Strong experience with SAP and Excel is essential
  • Proactive approach to understanding the business and devising commercial solutions
  • Desire to broaden technical skills within tax and accounting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to interpret complex tax matters and relay them to non-tax professionals
  • Proven self-starter, excellent organisational skills, ability to work under pressure, manage concurrent projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Committed and enthusiastic team player
  • Good knowledge of accounting
  • Other IT skills - Word and Power Point intermediate level,
  • P/Q or qualified tax and/or accounting qualification – ideal but not essential
  • Background in working for an international group preferred.
